Pont du Gard Roman aqueduct, Provence, France.Add to Lightbox Download
Partially framed by an arch of the ancient Pond du Gard, people play in and along the waters of the Gardon River. Built by the Romans circa 19 B.C., this wonder of stone aqueduct/bridge was a major link in a 30-mile canal that brought water to Nimes. It is the world's second highest standing Roman structure.
